How LlamaPress Works
The one-page directive: apps, workspaces, conversations, and your dashboard.
If you're new to LlamaPress, this is the page to read first. It explains the few simple ideas that make everything else click — and it clears up the most common early confusion: what is an app, what is a workspace, and what does "start a new conversation" actually do?
One app = one workspace
Each app you build lives in its own workspace (we also call it a Leo instance). A workspace is a self-contained little computer in the cloud running one application, with its own database and its own web address.
The most important rule: build one app per workspace. Don't try to build a second, different app — or a separate website — inside a workspace that's already building something. Each new request builds on top of what's already there, so two unrelated apps in one workspace will run into each other. If you want a second app, you get a second workspace (see below).
Your dashboard: every app, one click away
You never have to ask Leo to "pull up" an app. Open your dashboard and every workspace you own is listed there — click one to open it:
- Each app also has its own direct link (for example
leo-yourname.leo.llamapress.ai) — bookmark it so you can jump straight back in. - Click the pencil icon next to an app to rename it to something memorable, so your apps stay easy to tell apart.
"Start a new conversation" — what it really does
Inside a workspace, the chat with Leo works just like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude. Starting a new conversation gives Leo a clean slate — he no longer has to remember every detail of your earlier chats, so he stays sharp and focused on your new idea.
A new conversation is still the same app and the same workspace — it does not switch to a different app or start your project over. You'll still see your same app in the preview. Think of it as a fresh notepad for the same project.
Good habit: start a new conversation each time you move to a clearly different task — e.g. you just finished styling and now want to add a whole new feature. It keeps each chat tidy and helps Leo do his best work.
App vs. workspace vs. subscription
These three are easy to mix up, so here's the quick version:
- App — the software you're building.
- Workspace / Leo instance — where that one app lives and runs.
- Subscription — tied to your account, not to any single app. Upgrading or moving between apps doesn't move your subscription; you stay paid up across your account.
Want a second app?
Great — you just need a second workspace. On paid plans you can have more than one workspace, and if you'd like one set up, just reach out to support@llamapress.ai and tell us a sentence or two about what each app is for. We'll create it with its own link, and you simply click whichever app's link you want to work on.
Two web addresses (good to know)
Each app actually has two URLs, and it's normal to see both:
- The builder (e.g.
leo-yourname.leo.llamapress.ai) — where you chat with Leo and build. - The live app (e.g.
rails-leo-yourname.leo.llamapress.ai) — the running application itself, the version your end-users would visit.
